Reel Food Nights

The food system is complex. Some might say stupid complex. YFM's Reel Food Nights (RFN) is an event that translates the complex world of farming and the modern food system into a ‘reel’ of bite-size insights and take-home solutions for urban youn’uns. Essentially, we're talking film and food for thought.

The basic formula: A one-night only, pop-up bonanza with a food-film screening and expert panel discussion. It’s an evening of interaction at its finest that calls upon a literal feet of strength (the screen is pedal-powered so get ready to sweat) and curiosity of mind for the Q&A session.

Launched originally in Sydney with the support of The City of Sydney's Matching Grants, the most recent iterations of RFN – held in Brisbane ’14 Brisbane '14 and Sydney ’13 – premiered YFM’s own short film, Sourced, an introduction to the people who feed Sydney and how young people can help build a stronger system.
