Getting Australia's cooking groove back.

We know that less and less of us are spending time in the kitchen because, you know... life (Australia has been rated as having the highest number of fast food outlets per person, yikes!) We're busy, and bridging the gap from toast to sous vide steak is actually pretty tough. Meanwhile, delivery services are getting easier and easier to use, taking delicious food right to our front doors - is it any wonder we're not hanging out in the kitchen any more? This October Youth Food Movement Australia steamed up kitchens around Australia with an avo-smashing, onion dicing, slap-chopping series of events which lifted the lid on the cooking skills of Australian Millennials.

Brisbane kicked us off by hosting a Cookluck dinner, honing in on the abandoned veg in the bottom of the fridge. In Wollongong, YFM asked the big questions with a pen in one hand and a bag of popcorn in the other. Sydney focused in on Seasonality, using our guests own creative genius to inspire seasonal shopping choices. Our Melbourne crew switched on their Toastie Machines (aka. Sandwich Presses to non-Melbournians) to break down the infrastructural barriers of cooking & the millennial lifestyle. Collectively, our events reached more than 150 food warriors!
